Jeetendra Aneja, The District Governor Elect 2022-23, for Rotary International District 3190 was born to Smt. Pushpa and Sri. Chetan Das Aneja in New Delhi, into an extended joint family that was uprooted by the partition of India. In his formative years, his parents instilled in him the values of service, patriotism, humanity, and humility. He was also exposed to the teachings of other religions and cultural practices, that lead him to appreciate common philosophical strands among them, which contribute to India’s vibrant plurality. Growing up in a joint family instilled in him spirit of sharing and cooperation and taking everybody along with him. He believes in a strong ‘social balance sheet’ of life as a measure of success rather than wealth. This has helped building lasting friendships with a large no of friends who consider him as an extended family.
Jeetendra was an all-rounder and excelled in academics, sports, and extra-curricular activities. At the age of 15 he co-founded a social service organization, ‘Pragatisheel Yuvak Samiti’, to advocate for the issues of the local youth. He was an integral part and of the renowned Sonnet Cricket Clubin Delhi, which trained many cricketers who played for India. He excelled in athletics and represented Delhi state in cross-country races on two occasions.
Jeetendra completed his Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering and Postgraduate Diploma in Sales and Marketing Management, from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. During vacations he would apprentice at his family business of manufacturing microscopes.
He established a business of imports and distribution of medical and scientific equipment from Europe in 1985 with a focus on microscopes, high temperature furnaces, ceramic and refractory testing machines, sample preparation and laser based particle size analysers. He also pioneered introduction of surgical lasers technology in India. His company is now a market leader for aesthetic, dermatology, dental lasers as well as dental & surgical operating microscope. Widely travelled and trained abroad, Jeetendra is an expert laser applications trainer and actively involved in the promotion of laser education with Laser & Health Academy (LAHA), a prestigious European organization for laser research, studies and applications. His business continues to abide by its core values, rooted in the joint family principles of honesty, integrity, and ethical practices.
Married to Rtn. Sunanda in 1989, the couple are blessed with two children, Rtn. Rishi and Arushi. Sunanda was the Charter Secretary of Inner Wheel Club of South Parade. She took active interest in sports and dramatics while at school and at university, and held several positions of leadership therein. She follows her passions of cooking, embroidery, reading and painting. The couple are major donors. Son Rishi is practising advocate at the Supreme Court and the High Court of Karnataka. Daughter Arushi, with keen interest in dance and psychology, is also a law graduate and is starting her career in the field of corporate law.
Having moved to Bengaluru in 1994, Jeetendra joined Rotary Bangalore South Parade in 2001. As Club President in 2006-07, he brought a greater focus on community service, membership development and TRF. Projects on paediatric heart surgeries and wash stations in school together with comfort stations, new at that time were implemented. During his tenure as President the club was adjudged the ‘Best Club’ in its category.
Jeetendra is a Charter Member and key force behind Rotary Bangalore Junction (RBJ). Since its Charter little over a decade ago, RBJ has emerged as the second largest club in the District. Today, RBJ is known for its excellent fellowship, generous contribution to TRF, and for undertaking large scale service projects, most notably the following: paediatric ICU; mammography centre; mobile ophthalmic screening van; optical coherence tomography centre; holistic schools; and most recently, the ‘100 Happy Schools Project’.
He has served Rotary in various positions. Jeetendra was the Assistant Governor for the year 2012- 13 and the District Director for Youth Service, International Service, Membership Development and Vocational Service in subsequent years. He was also district training team members for two years. He was Director for Membership Development - Internal Extension in the year 2015-16, when R.I. Dist. 3190 achieved the world record by establishing 52 new clubs and adding 2,187 members, under leadership of PDG K.P. Nagesh. He served as the District Secretary during the tenure of PDG H.R. Ananth in the year 2016-17, which was another successful year all around for the District. During the aforementioned service, he also initiated several new programmes for life
skills management and entrepreneurial development for the youth; professional learning programmes for Rotarians; meetings and sustained interactions with foreign sister clubs via the internet, starting new fellowships and tie-up with the United Nations Development program (‘UNDP’) for the conduct of various vocational trainings.
His contribution to fund-raising in the District has been immense, with chairing and organizing musical programs as chairman of ‘Khayyam Nite’ and ‘Dil ki Awaaz’, besides being a back bone of the ‘Rishi Kapoor Mega Musical Nite’.
